The story behind the work

I'm Lily Ol, a Brazilian artist who has lived in different places and carried a little of each one with me. Today, I'm based in Europe, where I'm building a new chapter of my creative practice.
Before painting became the center of my work, I spent years working across digital transformation, business, branding, publishing and creative projects. I was always drawn to the same thing: taking something that exists inside — an idea, a feeling, a possibility — and finding a way to give it form.
Painting became another way of doing that.
I create mixed media art, working primarily with watercolor, pen and paper, exploring the relationship between structure and chaos, what can be seen and what exists beneath the surface.
My work often begins with an emotion, a thought, a memory or a tension I can't quite put into words. I use color, lines, layers and structure to explore it — not to define it, but to see what happens when it takes shape.
Abstraction gives me the freedom to leave space for interpretation. I'm not interested in telling you what to see. I'm interested in what you might find there.
My exploring

Creating belonging through art
It is more than just a sentence. It is the intention behind my art.
Art doesn't tell us where we belong, but gives us space to find it.
For me, art has always been a way of making sense of what I feel, think and experience. It gives shape to things that don't always have words, and creates a place where different parts of myself can exist together.
But I also believe art can create a safe space for others.
Sometimes, belonging means connecting with a place, a person or a community. Sometimes, it simply means seeing something that reflects a part of ourselves and realizing that we are not alone in feeling it.
This is what I hope my work can offer: a space where you can pause, feel, interpret and connect in your own way. A space where your perspective is welcome, where you don't have to experience the work the way someone else does, and where you might recognize something of yourself in what you see.
Because being seen doesn't always mean someone has the right words for us. So I try to find them in colors and brushstrokes.
I hope my artworks make us feel understood, seen and connected.
Beyond painting
My creative practice has also found its way into publishing, particularly through coloring books and journals — another way of creating space for reflection, emotion and everyday connection.
These works invite people not only to look at art, but to interact with it — to slow down, make something of their own, and find meaning in small moments. Across painting, publishing and everything still to come, the thread remains the same: creating belonging through art.

Color Me Healing
Breakups are messy. They can leave you sad, frustrated, relieved, or hopeful—and sometimes all at once!
This journal is here to walk with you through it, one page at a time.
Inside, you'll find illustrations to color, each capturing a different emotion. Coloring isn't just fun—it's a quiet way to pause, breathe, and feel. Next to the drawings, there's space for your thoughts, your stories, or even just scribbles—whatever helps you release what's inside.
You'll also find little notes about each emotion, reminding you that what you're feeling is normal, valid, and part of healing.
Think of this journal as a gentle friend: it sees you, it listens, and it cheers you on, even on the tough days.
Take your time. Color. Write. Laugh. Cry. Repeat. Every color you choose, every word you write, is a little act of self-love, release and a step toward feeling whole again, one page at a time.
You've got this!

Everyday Happiness
